Sunday, August 4, 2024 Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines recently hosted the Dover and Deal Sea Cadets aboard the Borealis, providing a unique glimpse into maritime life. On Wednesday, July 31st, Borealis docked at the Port of Dover and welcomed 19 enthusiastic cadets.
The Bridge Team, led by Captain Rommel Pineda, Safety Officer Abbie Sanders, and Navigation Officer George Gunningham, warmly received the group. The day began with a breakfast meeting with Captain Pineda, who shared insights about a seafaring career. The cadets were then treated to an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour, visiting the Bridge, lower decks, and engine control room.
The experience continued with a comprehensive tour of the ship’s public areas, a sumptuous lunch at The View restaurant, and a fun game of shuffleboard on deck. Alan Tinker, Chief Petty Officer at Dover and Deal Sea Cadets, said: “We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to Fred. Olsen for welcoming the cadets aboard and giving them the time to experience life aboard during a busy port turnaround day.
