Prayagraj: The four-day Kanha festival , organised to commemorate Shri Krishna Janmashtami and Srila Prabhupad ’s birth anniversary, commenced in the Sangam city on Saturday. The main event will be held at the ISKCON temple located at Balua Ghat. The temple management has made extensive preparations for the grand celebration.

“Spiritual, devotional, and cultural programmes will be organised to make this occasion truly grand and divine,” said temple president Achyuta Mohan Das. The celebrations commenced in the city on Saturday itself with a magnificent shobha yatra (religious procession) taken out in the city. This procession commenced from Swami Vivekananda crossing (civil lines) and reached Baluaghat ISKCON temple via Civil Lines, Subhash crossing, Hanuman temple, Johnstonganj, clock tower, and Ram Bhuvan crossing.

Devotees attending the procession were seen singing Harinam Sankirtan during the yatra. On Janmashtami (August 26), 51 silver pots will be used for Mahabhishek of the utsav deities of Sri Sri Radha Venimadhava using honey, milk, curd, camphor, sandalwood paste, fruit juices, various perfumes, and flowers.
