FLORENCE – Four members of the Francis Marion University volleyball team were named to the Conference Carolinas All-Conference Team that was released this week. Junior middle blocker Caroline Lucas and junior setter Mya Mendoza were selected to the first team, while senior middle blocker Kaytlin Smart was tabbed for the second team, and senior outside hitter Kara Walker was named to the third team for the second consecutive year. Lucas , a native of Easley, earns All-Conference recognition for the second year in a row.
She leads Francis Marion and is second in the conference for hitting percentage at .339 and ranks sixth in points per set (3.37), ninth in kills per set (2.
76), and 22nd in blocks per set (0.60). Mendoza, a native of Longwood, Fla.
, ranks second in the conference for total assists (958), third in assists per set (9.21) and total service aces (50), and fourth in aces per set (0.48).
Smart, a native of Smithfield, Utah, ranked fifth in the conference in hitting percentage (.306), eighth in total blocks (77), and 10th in blocks per set (0.74).
She played in all but two sets this year and averaged 2.25 kills per set. Walker, a native of Fayetteville, N.
C., ranks 14th in the conference in points per set (2.98), 16th in digs per set (3.
19), and 20th in kills per set (2.50). The group has helped led Francis Marion to a 16-12 record, a second-place finish in the East Division standings, and the third seed in this week's conference tournament.
FMU will face sixth seed.
