Pune: The Pune Rural police booked four men on Friday on the charge of grabbing a plot of land from an ex-serviceman after submitting fake documents at the Baramati sub-registrar's office. The 67-year-old ex-serviceman filed a complaint with the Baramati City police on Friday. The victim found that the suspects produced a dummy person bearing the victim’s name for the agreement to sell the land.

The police have booked the dummy person and two witnesses under the relevant sections of the IPC. When contacted, the ex-serviceman's wife told TOI that after her husband's retirement, govt had allotted him a piece of land at Murti village in Baramati taluka in the 2005. She said along with her husband, one more ex-serviceman was allotted the land in the Murti village.

“On August 8, the son of other ex-serviceman with land ploat in Murti village came to us and informed my husband about fake agreements to sell the land in the sub-registrar office at Baramati," the woman told the police. She added that when they checked with the sub-registrar's office, they found the agreement to sell was registered in Feb this year. “We also found that the suspect had produced a dummy person, who was bearing my husband's name.

As per the documents, one from Pune is the purchaser and two are witnesses,” the woman said. “We do not know any of the persons involved in the scam,” she added. An officer from the Baramati City police said they have detained a few suspects for questioning.
