Pune: The Shirgaon police on Tuesday registered a case against four residents of Godumbre village in Maval taluka on the charge of beating a land measurement officer and preventing him from measuring land. The incident occurred on Oct 10 at Godumbre village and the victim approached the police on Tuesday and filed a complaint. The suspects were booked under Section 132 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

An officer from the Ravet police said the complainant went to Godumbre on Oct 10 to measure a part of land and fix the boundaries after receiving an application from a resident in the village. "The suspects, however, did not allow the measurement work to be completed. They even beat the complainant and tried to snatch land records from him," the officer said.
