Lara Adejoro An international non-profit organisation, the Feet of Grace Foundation has called for a disability-friendly environment, especially in public facilities in Nigeria. The Founder and Executive Director of the Feet of Grace Foundation, Dr Irene Olumese, who made the appeal on Saturday during a charity and awareness walk in Abuja, said amputees face difficulties in the workplace. She explained that the demand became important to ensure that they can work and reproduce in workplaces and public facilities that are accessible.

Olumese stated, “The workplaces and the streets are not kind enough for people with disabilities to work. So we want to let society know that our missing limbs are not a limitation to being able to live a productive life and contribute towards our society, and to raise funds to provide prosthetic limbs for amputees in Nigeria. “There is no medical system in Nigeria that provides artificial legs for people when their legs are amputated.

It has to be done by philanthropists and foundations like ours. However, because it is so expensive, one person can’t do it. So we call on all our friends to join us, to ask their friends as well, to donate to the foundation and support us to be able to provide prosthetic limbs for amputees in Nigeria.

To date, since we set up in 2015, the foundation has provided almost 120 amputees with limbs, and 200 amputees have benefited from all sorts of support from the foundation, including scholarships to be able to g.
