Former Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli is not convinced by the comparison between Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic . The Italian took the Serb’s World No.1 spot in June and has begun asserting his dominance in the tennis world.
However, Bartoli believes that Djokovic still has a couple of seasons left, giving him opportunities to win more Grand Slam titles. The Belgrade native has stated that his priority remains the Grand Slam and the Davis Cup. What? Djokovic’s improved version? LOL (followed by a laughing emoji).
It’s still incredible, this culture of the moment. My number would be between 15 and 18 Grand Slam titles for each of them, Sinner and Alcaraz. I just think Novak Djokovic is going to go for maybe two or three more, will end up at 26 or 27, and then after that you really have, for me, the two most complete players.
There’s lot of players who have one surface where they are really not that good. Sinner defeated Djokovic last week in the finals of the Shanghai Masters in straight sets. After that match, the Serbian was asked about comparisons with the two-time Grand Slam champion.
Djokovic acknowledged the comparisons, stating that Sinner’s game is quite similar to his during his prime years. Sinner is guaranteed to finish the season as the year-end World No.1.
The rivalry of Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic so far Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic are tied at 4-4 in their head-to-head rivalry. They have met twice in 2024, with the Italian winning on both.
