Extreme flooding has already claimed the life of one fire fighter in a rescue operation in the country.

The Austrian province has declared a disaster , as leaders highlighted "an unprecedented extreme situation". One person has also tragically drowned in Poland, at the hands of the torrential rain as a result of the storm, which has also claimed the lives of five people in Romania. According to recent reports in the BBC , several also remain unaccounted for in the Czech Republic.

The UK foreign office advised there is further road closures and disruptions to public transport links as a result of the floods, in a fresh update published on Sunday (September 15). People have been encouraged to stay up to date with road traffic information in the area. "Due to floods in the East of Austria, road closures and disruptions to public transport may occur in affected areas.
