Members of the BVI Ports Authority (BVIPA) recently completed a Service Excellence Training led by a Forbes Travel Guide representative, aimed at enhancing guest experiences and service standards across the territory. Forbes Travel Guide is a global rating system for luxury hotels, restaurants, spas, and ocean cruises. It is considered the only independent authority for luxury hospitality ratings.
The two-day training concluded on Wednesday, November 6, with the first session held at Village Rose in Virgin Gorda and the second at Maria’s by the Sea in Tortola. This training was part of the Culture and Tourism Month initiatives announced by Junior Minister of Tourism, Luce Hodge-Smith. Department Director Dr.
Katherine Smith highlighted the connection between culture and tourism, stating, “Whenever tourists travel to a destination to experience its culture, this can include arts tourism, heritage tourism, or simply a people’s everyday culture.” Dr. Smith added that the territory’s diverse offerings will be showcased throughout November, celebrating various aspects of Virgin Islands culture.
