It had been a tough life for a 28-year-old patient who, because of her weight, had struggled with many health issues such as high blood pressure, infertility, Covid-19, and avascular necrosis (AVN) of the hip that even necessitated a hip replacement surgery.

Weighing 122 kg, the woman from Mumbai recently underwent a successful and transformative Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery, following which she managed to lose 21 kg in just five months. The case was handled by Dr Aparna Govil Bhasker, a consultant bariatric and laparoscopic surgeon at MetaHeal - Laparoscopy and Bariatric Surgery Center and Saifee Hospital in Mumbai.
