A high-profile food festival will host its first Charleston event this weekend. From the founders of a star-studded food festival in Colorado, the Food & Wine Classic in Charleston will take place Sept. 27-29.

Led by Food & Wine, Southern Living and Travel + Leisure magazines, and presented by Explore Charleston, the event is a spinoff of the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen. The event was hosted in Colorado for the 41st time in June. A cornerstone of the Charleston weekend will be the Grand Tasting, hosted at the Charleston Visitor Center (375 Meeting St.

). That plus a slate of cooking demonstrations and seminars — held at the Charleston Gaillard Center (95 Calhoun St.), Emeline hotel (181 Church St.
