Several flood alerts have been issued following heavy rain overnight. The Environment Agency has warned of potential flooding in five locations after a yellow weather warning for rain was in place from yesterday afternoon until 9am today, September 30. The organisation said that almost half a month’s worth of rain, 20-25 millimetres, fell this morning alone, leading to rising water levels.
An alert has been issued at Climping seafront, near Littlehampton, as the unsettled weather has triggered high tides and large waves. READ MORE: Weather warning for heavy rain and flooding issued Minimal flood impact is expected two hours either side of high tide, at approximately 11am, with the possibility of flooding behind the beach and on nearby land and fields, including Climping Street Car Park and Mill Lane. A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: “Shingle and debris can be thrown by large waves.
Access could be restricted during and after high tide. “Take care if visiting Climping beach.” Other areas subject to flood alerts this morning include: River Adur - Due to high water levels, flooding will impact fields and gardens of properties near Mock Bridge.
The A281 at Mock Bridge, near Horsham, could also be affected. River Uck - Flooding is expected to affect fields and rural roads and could impact gardens of riverside properties through Buxted, near the White Hart pub and areas around Hempstead Mill on Hempstead Lane and Mill Lane, Uckfield.
