The 76-year-old revealed that she's seen a big difference in what passengers wear for their flights. In the 70s and 80s travellers regularly wore formal clothing at the airport, according to the veteran air hostess. However, these days the flight attendant sees passengers turning up in "pyjamas" for their flight.

"People used to dress up," Joan added. "When people dress well, they behave better. "In first class , people used to look forward to the service, now they just want space and a TV dinner.

" Pan Am was synonymous with the Golden Age of air travel and Joan catered to A-list celebrities during her tenure with the airline.
