New photos show what a city centre home store could look like as it prepares to open later this year. Sostrene Grene announced that it would be opening its doors in Brighton’s Churchill Square later this year, bringing its Danish homeware to the city for the first time. Now, the store has released photos of what its new store could look like as works continue to progress on the development.

Images of the inside of a Sostrene Grene store saw wooden shelves filled with candles, vases and other products all illuminated by warm lighting. The homeware store, founded in Denmark in 1976, says it “embraces the essence of ‘hygge” – a Danish concept centred around taking time away from the daily rush to “relax and enjoy life’s quieter pleasures” - as described by the Danish foreign office website. Sostrene Grene has more than 300 stores worldwide.

Mikkel Grene, CEO and Co-owner of Sostrene Grene, said: “We are thrilled to bring Sostrene Grene to the vibrant city of Brighton . Our stores are designed to inspire creativity and a sense of community, and we can't wait to share our affordable and stylish offerings with the local customers.” A sample of Sostrene Grene's Christmas range (Image: Sostrene Grene) Hoarding announcing the Sostrene Grene opening appeared in Churchill Square earlier this month.

The store will open in the unit between New Look and Quiz. The plans come as Ikea plans to open a store in the former Debenhams unit in Churchill Square in 2025. Sister co.
