Rowcroft Hospice is heating things up this autumn with a new fundraising event, daring participants aged 12 and over to walk barefoot over hot embers in a fire walk, while younger children can take on the colourful Lego walk. These challenges, hosted by Firewalk Events, will take place in the grounds of Rowcroft Hospice on Saturday, 12th October. The event aims to unite families and friends to raise essential funds through sponsorship.

The fire walk will be led by an experienced instructor, who will deliver a training session focused on mental preparation – essential for completing the challenge. The fire, built from wood, will be ready when it reaches around 400°C – up to four times hotter than a boiling kettle. Participants will then safely walk across the scorching embers, guided by the instructor.

For the Lego walk, younger children will first walk over a path of colourful bricks with socks on, and later with socks off. Holly Traynor, Events and Projects Fundraiser at Rowcroft Hospice, said: “Things are heating up here in South Devon with these exciting challenges that offer adrenaline-filled fun for all ages. It’s a chance to face your fears, test your mental and physical strength, have a laugh with family and friends, and most importantly, support a cause close to home.

Plus, who wouldn’t want to say they’ve walked on fire or conquered the Lego gauntlet?!” Sponsored by Majestic Holidays, the event will also include a fire-eating performance by Higher Bein.
