Gbenga Odogun As part of measures to combat impacts of climate change in the country, the Federal Government has established a renewable energy college in Kogi State. The groundbreaking ceremony of the project was held on Saturday at the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, by Governor Usman Ododo, along with the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, and the Director General of Energy Commission of Nigeria, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi.

In a speech delivered at the ceremony, Ododo said, “I want to appreciate President Bola Tunubu for his initiatives to bring the project which will help in addressing the negative impact of climate change by promoting renewable energy sources and adaptation in Nigeria to the state.” Ododo noted that the college aims to empower marginalised segments of society by fostering gender equality and enhancing local resilience.
