Two luxury sports cars and a motorbike allegedly caught racing down a busy Perth highway have been seized by authorities, who say one of the trio should not have even been on the road. One driver allegedly reached speeds of 169km/h while bolting through the city’s coastal northern suburbs, with police lashing the group’s behaviour behind the wheel. The two cars — which have a combined value of about $800,000 based on the lower-end of advertised prices on online marketplaces — were spotted on West Coast Dr as they headed south towards Trigg.

Police allege the cars “drove recklessly” and “raced each other” for 6.5kms down West Coast Hwy between Karrinyup Rd and traffic lights at The Boulevard in City Beach. The Ferrari reached speeds of 167km/h in an 80km/h zone, while the Porsche accelerated to 169km/h, according to police.

A black Yamaha joined them at the lights and all three “drove recklessly, racing each other” until they reached a restaurant on Challenger Pde, it is alleged. All three are alleged to have topped 116km/h or more in what is a signposted 70km/h zone. The trio have been charged, and the two cars were pictured on the beds of tow trucks after being impo.
