Pakistani film The Legend of Maula Jatt, starring Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, has not been allowed to run in theatres in India, despite plans for its release here on October 2. The film was set to be the first Pakistani release in India in a decade, with Zee Studios reportedly securing the distribution rights. However, the release has been stopped, allegedly due to the ongoing ban on Indian films in Pakistan since 2019, leading to a reciprocal decision in India.

” The Legend of Maula Jatt released in Pakistan in October 2022 and has since been hailed as a groundbreaking film in South Asian cinema. Directed by Bilal Lashari, this modern adaptation reimagines the classic 1979 Punjabi cult favourite, Maula Jatt. Starring Fawad Khan in the lead role and Mahira Khan as his love interest, the film attracted international acclaim for its impressive production quality, powerful performances, and thrilling storyline.
It achieved remarkable success at the box office in Pakistan, breaking records and setting new standards for the countr.
