FARGO — Award-winning author Kao Kalia Yang will present an author talk featuring a meet-and-greet, writing prompt discussion and book signing at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug.

10, at the downtown Main Library. According to the Fargo Public Library, Yang is a writer, teacher and speaker, and her works span multiple audiences and genres. Her works include memoirs like "The Latehomecomer," "The Song Poet," "Somewhere in the Unknown World" and "Where Rivers Part," as well as children's books like "A Map Into the World," "The Most Beautiful Thing," "The Shared Room" and "The Rock in My Throat.

" The National Endowment for the Arts and National Book Critics Circle Award have recognized Yang's work, and she has received various other awards and prizes. Yang is also a McKnight, Soros and Guggenheim fellow. The Fargo Public Library welcomes her on behalf of the North Dakota Asian-American Arts and Cultural Initiative, a release said.

The program is designed to promote cultural exchange and foster civic engagement. Yang's presentation is part of the library's free 2024 Summer Reading Challenge, a program that presents stories, weekly events, performances and activities for all ages, running through Aug. 17.
