Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York has reflected on her mother's tragic death. The Duchess, 64, shared an emotional social media tribute to her mother Susan Barrantes, who died "far too young" in a car crash 26 years ago. "My much-loved mother Susie died 26 years ago today," Ferguson wrote on Instagram .

Barrantes stood smiling next to her daughter wearing a yellow outfit and fascinator.  Ferguson posted framed photos she kept of her mother as well as professional pictures taken of Barrantes when she was younger.

"I think constantly of her zest for life and her shining spirit. Like all of us, she made mistakes but she taught me to value each and every day and to always seek to treat people with kindness.

" "I miss her greatly," the Duchess signed off her heartfelt post.
