In the run-up to its 20th anniversary Nottingham's Chocolate Utopia shop has been asking customers for recommendations for new flavours - with interesting results. While pistachio, avocado, apple crumble and mulled wine are not beyond the realm of possibility there's not the remotest chance that one strange request will make it to the counter - even Willy Wonka would frown at a roast dinner chocolate surely? Chris Forster, who opened the shop in October 2004 with his wife Helen, said: "We'll probably end up doing an apple-based one, either toffee apple or apple crumble. I think we'll do another one with wintery spices and dried fruit, with or without port.
We'll probably do one with one of the local brewery's beer as well which we normally do around this time anyway with the beer festival as a seasonal thing." His brother Robin, who also works at the shop in Friar Lane, said: "This is a nice opportunity to test them to see if they'll take off." The most popular launched during this month's landmark birthday are likely to remain on sale.
But the family know only too well that discontinuing a certain flavour will inevitably disappoint the minority who do have a liking for it. Helen said: "You get in trouble if you stop making them so the range is just expanding. There was a sherry one that we stopped making and a pineapple one, which was surprisingly popular with the people who really loved it.
