Nestled on the coastline of East Suffolk is the seaside town of Lowestoft. Approximately 38 miles north-east of Ipswich and 22 miles south-east of Norwich, it is the most easterly UK settlement and is the destination where you can see some of the easiest sunrises. As a result, early risers often flock to the area for summer solstice.

However, a new study by Compare the Market has suggested the beach has more than just beautiful sunrises to offer. With a few weeks left of summer holidays, Lowestoft could also be a fantastic option for a family day out. Based on the price of typical seaside purchases, Compare the Market has dubbed Lowestoft the "cheapest seaside day out".

The money team at Compare the Market ranked popular UK seaside destinations based on a variety of important factors, including the cost of a meal out and drinks, the price of parking, and how much sunshine they get. The study also analysed Google search data to reveal which beaches are the most popular in the UK. "Lowestoft in East Suffolk offers the cheapest seaside day out, with meals averaging £5.

50 and six hours of parking at £3.15 on average," said Compare the Market. "As the UK's most easterly town, it’s also the first to see the sunrise.

" Data showed that the average price of a coffee in Lowestoft is £2.35, while the average price of a pint of beer is £5.45.
