A holiday to a five-star Caribbean resort turned into a nightmare for a family after they fell ill with parasitic worms amid claims of undercooked meat and insects in their salad. They also complained of "deafening" drum and bass tunes by the poolside. Sarah Sigston, 57, her husband Jeremy, 53, and their daughter Isabelle, 25 from Rayleigh, Essex, flew out on May 4 to the Viva Dominicus Palace by Wyndham, booked as an all-in luxury package through TUI.

They described the hotel as looking "very, very tired" with a room that did not match the online depictions. The family claimed they encountered issues such as "undercooked meat", "insects in the salads" and "birds on the buffet trays". And they said they were disturbed by blaring drum and bass music around the swimming pool area, featuring what they described as "awful" swearing in the lyrics.

But they claimed she fell ill and eating a burger described as gluten-free despite reassurances from three separate staff members. The trip, costing £3,700, took an even worse turn eight days in, when "worms" were allegedly spotted in their stools, leaving the family needing a three-day treatment after their return to Britain.

Despite their ordeal, the family stayed until the end of their holiday and tried to claim compensation through TU.
