Pune: NCP (SCP) working president Supriya Sule targeted state home minister Devendra Fadnavis over the recent crimes and said that he should take moral responsibility and resign. “Fadnavis has become a part-time home minister as he is spending more time in Delhi rather than handling the state's home department," Supriya said on Wednesday while leading her party's demonstrations in Pune to protest against the Badlapur sexual assault of a minor girl in a school. The Baramati MP said a central govt report shows that crime in the state has increased.

“Crimes against women in particular have risen, but the way the state govt has dealt with them is unfortunate. These issues will not be resolved by mere transfers of police officers. The home minister must take moral responsibility and resign," Supriya added.

The Baramati MP said demanding justice for a heinous crime like rape is considered an offence by the Mahayuti govt as it did not act proactively against the Badlapur rape accused but was quick in registering FIRs against protesters. Supriya said the Kolkata case was unfortunate but West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee acted sensitively and immediate action was taken.
