Prayagraj: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has instructed Railways to install face recognition cameras during the Maha Kumbh to locate and reunite lost people with their families. The railways will establish a CCTV control room at Prayagraj Junction, which will be integrated with the integrated control and command centre (ICCC) of the fair, the district administration, and the CCTV control rooms of traffic and police. In all, 96 such cameras will be installed in seven stations of Prayagraj division.
Among these, 30 such cameras will be installed at Prayagraj Junction. Apart from this, 12 cameras each will be installed at Naini, Cheoki, and Subedarganj railway stations . In addition to this, ten such cameras will be installed at Fatehpur, Mirzapur, and Manikpur stations.
The technology, which will be used during the Maha Kumbh, has been successfully tested in Bengaluru. In addition to helping locate lost people, these artificial intelligence (AI) based cameras will also assist in identifying suspects arriving at the railway stations, enhancing overall security measures during the event. The chief public relations officer (CPRO), NCR, Shashikant Tripathi, said that the information pertaining to the lost person, like their photo, features, height, width, etc.
