HOUGHTON, MI – A new experience allows families to experience the majestic beauty of Michigan’s Isle Royale from the comfort of their homes. The National Park Service is celebrating National Wilderness Month by launching the Isle Royale Wilderness Adventure , a new online experience that offers kids and families a chance to explore the remote island in Lake Superior virtually. Isle Royale is closed annually from November until mid-April, but the online experience can be accessed 365 days a year.

The wilderness adventure simulates a backpacking and paddling experience with the goal of traveling across the island over five days. It challenges users to make decisions that backpackers or paddlers may experience in-person while on Isle Royale. Each choice affects how your online adventure unfolds.
