South Devon Railway is extending an invitation for a unique festive experience, complete with unforgettable food and views. This , the railway is welcoming guests onto its newly reintroduced Christmas Dining Car. The experience merges a luxurious journey through Devon's stunning winter landscape with a four-course gourmet meal prepared from fresh, local ingredients.

Visitors will arrive at the beautifully adorned Buckfastleigh Station where they will be welcomed by a roaring fire in the ticket office and a complimentary seasonal beverage. Guests will subsequently be escorted to their first-class setting where they will have ample time to absorb the charm of the classic train ride while enjoying attentive, at-seat bar service. Gluten-free and vegan menu options are also available.

The menu features butternut squash and sweet potato soup or a brie and cranberry tartlet for starters, followed by a traditional Christmas dinner or nut roast with all the trimmings for the main course. Desserts include a Christmas pudding or a clementine panacotta with a ginger crumb. Following this, guests will be offered coffee and a mini mince pie.

The train will operate on select Tuesdays leading up to Christmas - November 26, December 3, 10, and 17 - with guests having the option to choose from two sittings per day, a 1pm lunch and a 7pm evening service, reports . Tickets can now be purchased online and are priced at £79 per person. South Devon Railway recommends early booking.
