Vadodara: The son of a former BJP municipal councillor was stabbed to death on the SSG Hospital campus in the early hours of Monday. The ex-councillor, a BJP scheduled caste morcha member, said the killing occurred despite the presence of police personnel. Tapan Parmar (27), the son Ramesh Parmar, was stabbed multiple times near the hospital canteen in the early hours of Monday.

He had gone to SSG to inquire about the treatment of Vikram Parmar, who was allegedly stabbed by a history-sheeter, Babar Pathan, in a fight in the Nagarwada area. Tapan was accompanied by a friend, Mitesh Rajput. According to the FIR filed by Rajput at Raopura police station, after checking on Vikram, Tapan and he went to the canteen.

Pathan and others soon arrived at the spot. Rajput said that two persons held him while Pathan stabbed Tapan. Rajput managed to get away and returned with others, by which time Pathan and his accomplices had fled.

The group took Tapan for treatment, but he died soon after. Ramesh was informed and rushed to the hospital. He told mediapersons that the killing took place in the presence of police personnel at the hospital.

Rajput and others examined CCTV footage from the hospital and identified two persons — Shabnam Mansuri and Shabir alias Lakha. Shabnam is the wife of Wasim Mansuri, who was also wounded in the fight at Nagarwada and was accompanying Pathan.
