MOHALI: Former Punjab Congress MLA and BJP woman leader Satkar Kaur has been arrested in connection with a drug case. Satkar was arrested while she was trying to sell heroin, a narcotic drug, in a luxury car. She was arrested with 100 grams of heroin from Mohali in Punjab.

Jaskirat Singh, her nephew who was with her in the car, was also arrested in connection with Wednesday's incident. Kaur has been expelled from the party for six years by the Punjab BJP leadership. The action was taken on the instructions of state BJP chief Sunil Jakhar.

Kaur had come in a luxury car to sell heroin for Rs 2.5 lakh. Her nephew Jaskirat arrived in another car.

The police reached the spot after learning about the sale. While trying to escape after seeing the police, Kaur's car ran over a policeman's feet. During a search at her house in Kharad, police seized 28 grams of heroin, Rs 1.

56 lakh in cash, gold ornaments and four cars believed to be used for smuggling drugs. They have also received number plates with Delhi and Haryana registrations. Kaur was a Congress MLA from Ferozepur Rural constituency from 2017 to 2022.

She joined the BJP in 2022 after being denied a ticket in the assembly elections..
