Evan John Smith, 31, of Dubuque, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2024 at home surrounded by family. Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00p.m.

, with a parish wake service at 6:00p.m., Sunday, September 22, 2024 at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Road, Dubuque.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30a.m., Monday, September 23, 2024, at Holy Spirit Parish-Holy Ghost Catholic Church with Rev.

Steve Garner officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Evan was born on April 22, 1993 to John and Jennifer (Welu) Smith in Dubuque, IA.

In 2011, he graduated from Hempstead High school where he was an accomplished state wrestler. After high school, he attended the University of Dubuque where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Evan was most recently employed as the manager of Allied Pawn in Dubuque.

His intelligence, strong work ethic and fun personality made him an invaluable employee. On October 24, 2022, in beautiful Mexico, Evan married Rachelle, the love of his life. They enjoyed going on trips and exploring the various sports stadiums as they cheered on the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Cubs, Minnesota Vikings and Iowa Hawkeyes.

On their travels, they caught a few Thomas Rhett concerts along the way. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR. Evan will be remembered not only for his sense of humor and love of life, but also as a devoted husband and family man.
