The couple have revealed they have parted ways in a statement on social media with Alvaro stating they had a “marvellous relationship”. The separation has come as a surprise due to the loved-up snaps the pair posted on Instagram just weeks ago on holiday to Sardinia.

Alice was also pictured by her husband's side after he captained Spain to victory in the final of Euro 2024 in July. Alvaro and Alice married in 2017, just eight months after they connected on social media. The pair have four children together, three sons, Alessandra, Leonardo and Edoardo, and a daughter, Bella.

Alice previously revealed to The Sun that she initially rejected Alvaro’s advances, but she was eventually won over by his gestures that included Alvaro driving eight hours to meet her family before returning to Turin for training. Fast forward a few months and Alvaro was playing for Real Madrid, and he popped the question during a magic show. The pair had a romantic ceremony in Venice the following year.

In a bombshell statement on Instagram, Alvaro said: "After a period of reflection, Alice and I have taken the decision to take separate paths. “It was a marvellous relationship.
