A housing estate has been subject to two nights of “intimidation, bullying and harassment”, with police investigating. Across the two nights over Friday and Saturday, youths reportedly tried to kick doors in and damage houses around the estate off Bolton Road in Westhoughton. Complaints have been made and the area’s councillors say that the police are now on the case.

Cllr David Wilkinson, of Westhoughton South, said: “I’ve been dealing with the police officers who have been dealing with it. “They are pursuing enquiries, speaking to residents and asking if anyone has got doorbell footage.” Reports have been made to the police (Image: Newsquest) He added: “This wasn’t a bit of knock and run, that kind of thing, this was clear harassment, intimidation, bullying, attempts at criminal damage and attempts to kick doors down.

“I’m not talking about just a little kick, this was full blown flying kicks involving boys and girls.” The disturbances are believed to have happened when youths started kicking at and damaging homes around Winterbourne Road, off Bolton Road. They are believed to have happened overnight around various houses on the estate after darkness fell.

Cllr Wilkinson said: “This kind of thing is unacceptable, and it needs to be dealt with so we have taken this to the local policing team and to the Bolton district commander. “And I have to say to some parents, what are your kids doing that they think they can go up to people’s houses, threat.
