FARGO — Doctors at Essentia Health say it is the best time to get your flu shot and other vaccines ahead of what's known as "respiratory illness season." They're already seeing cases of influenza, COVID-19, and Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV); and they're only expected to rise. The RSV vaccine rolled out in 2023.
Doctors say while you might be concerned with the initial side effects of vaccines, it's important to get the shots. They say vaccines not only protect you from illness, but protect those around you. "There's vaccines that can reduce your risk of being hospitalized or dying from those illnesses and the vaccines, we want to make sure people take advantage of that and get vaccinated and this is the prime time to do that," Dr.
Richard Vetter, the Chief Medical Officer at Essentia Health, said. To learn more about the risks involved with respiratory illness, you can head to the Center of Disease Control's website ..
