Escape to the Country couple were left emotional as their search for their dream home came to an abrupt end. During Friday’s episode of the BBC hit show, Alistair Appleton was on a mission to help a couple find their dream home. Jon and wife Jo were hoping to start a new life in Wiltshire.

The pressure was on for Alistair as the couple sold their previous home over 20 years ago and went on to spend six years travelling the world. “We have just decided it was time to shake things up a bit because our children had left home.” Jon added: “So we decided to go out and see the rest of the world.” Speaking about why they decided to start their new life in Wiltshire, Jo said: “We’ve done a few house visits in this area and we just love the countryside around here and it just feels comfortable for us.

” The couple had a budget of £325,000 for a property that had a lot of character. They were looking for a minimum of two bedrooms as well as an open plan kitchen-diner but a small flat garden and walking distance of a village. Alistair set up a number of property viewers but it was one home, located in Devizes Marina, that surprised the couple as it was a home they never considered.
