Vadodara: An executive engineer working in the irrigation department in Chhota Udepur was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe of Rs one lakh from a contractor on Tuesday. The ACB sleuths set a trap after the contractor approached them and filed a complaint against Amit Mishra. ACB officials said that the contractor was working as per the tender process and got the work of restoring lakes in two villages of Naswadi taluka in 2022-23.

He completed both the works, and his bill of Rs 2.52 lakh for working on one of the lakes was paid to him. However, another bill of Rs one lakh was pending, and when he went to get the payment from the govt department, he was asked to leave.

He then approached Mishra, who asked for a Rs 1.50 lakh bribe to clear the payment. The complainant settled the amount at Rs one lakh and later approached the ACB.
