Thursday, October 3, 2024 Emirates partners with Etihad Clean Energy to launch a large-scale solar project at the Emirates Engineering Centre, advancing UAE’s sustainability and clean energy goals. In a major step toward boosting energy efficiency and sustainability, Emirates has joined forces with Etihad Clean Energy Development to initiate a large-scale solar energy project at the Emirates Engineering Centre in Dubai. The agreement was formalized during the World Green Economy Summit 2024, with His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, and His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), in attendance.
This project encompasses the design, engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems at the Emirates Engineering Centre, along with 20 years of operational and maintenance services. A total of 39,960 solar panels will be installed, which will supply 37% of the facility’s annual energy needs and cut CO2 equivalent emissions by more than 13,000 tonnes per year once fully operational. The system will have a total capacity of 23,177 kWp, with an expected annual energy production of 34,301,960 kWh.
