Pune: Six mobile AED (automated external defibrillator) machines have been set up at the new airport terminal building, besides a medical emergency room to cater to sudden cardiac arrests among people. Pune airport director Santosh Dhoke said these six machines had been set up at the arrival area, departure area, near the check-in counters, at the security hold area, and at the international security hold area. “These AED machines have been strategically placed throughout the terminal.

These AEDs are crucial for delivering immediate electric shocks to restore normal heart rhythms during sudden cardiac arrest , thereby significantly improving survival rates,” Dhoke said. In addition, a medical emergency room has been opened at the new terminal building in coordination with Ruby Hall Clinic. Airport officials said a doctor and a nurse will be stationed at the medical room all the time to tend to any kind of emergencies.

“The medical emergency room, which is conveniently located in the check-in area of the new building, will provide free medical services to all passengers round the clock.
