In December 2024, the Ministry of Finance provided a facility worth EGP 20 billion to support the airline’s ambitious plans for fleet development. The funding is part of broader efforts by the Egyptian government to enhance the country’s aviation capabilities and position EgyptAir as a key player in global air travel.
Officials revealed that the financing will be repaid by the Ministry of Civil Aviation over a pre-determined timeframe. This financial support underscores the government’s commitment to bolstering the national carrier, a critical component of Egypt’s economic and tourism sectors. With this funding, EgyptAir is set to expand its fleet from 65 to 125 aircraft over the next five years.
This ambitious goal reflects the airline’s vision to strengthen its presence in the competitive global aviation market. The expansion plan includes the acquisition of 18 Boeing 737-8 Max aircraft and 10 wide-bodied Airbus A350-900 planes, both of which are renowned for their fuel efficiency and advanced passenger comfort.
