People have been warned to stay out of a lake as dangerous bacteria have been found. Arun District Council has reported that “high levels of E.coli and Enterococci” have been found in Mewsbrook Lake, Littlehampton, and has warned dog owners to keep their pets away.
On Tuesday, the council posted safety advice on social media, advising people that the lake “cannot be used for boating” due to poor water quality and asking them to keep dogs on leads. It has now confirmed that potentially deadly bacteria have been found in the lake. coli and Enterococci have been recorded at the lake and recreational activity cannot take place. Until further notice, due to poor water quality in the lake at Mewsbrook Park, it cannot be used for boating. Dog owners are encouraged not to allow their dogs in or near the lake - we suggest they are kept on leads.
