ECI officials seize cash worth 23L from car near Hadapsar

Pune: ECI officials accompanied by the Hadapsar police seized cash worth Rs22.90 lakh from a car at Manjari Phata near Hadapsar on Tuesday evening. The cash was being carried by a Daund-based trader.

After the car was intercepted, he informed the Hadapsar police and Election Commission of India (ECI) officials that he intended to deposit the money in a bank in the Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC), Market Yard. The authorities summoned Income-Tax officials and handed over the cash to them for further investigation after a detailed panchnama report was prepared. Deputy commissioner of police (zone V) R Raja told TOI, "I-T officials will probe the purpose of the cash being carried by the trader.
