It took everything for EastEnders actor James Farrar not to give away a major New Year twist on the BBC soap. He teased his shock over an upcoming set of episodes post Christmas Day, thought to be airing on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. While he managed to stop himself from spilling specific details on what happens and who is involved, he made it clear he knew everything.
Not only that, but he promised the episodes would be "unbelievable" and hinted they would be shocking too, as he repeatedly gasped. As he fought to stop himself spilling the details exclusively to The Mirror at the Inside Soap Awards, he vowed to say nothing. But he gave away it was something major and that some characters would be caught him in some very big scenes at the end of the year, and at the start of 2025.
Asked about what was ahead in the lead-up to the show's 40th anniversary, he promised a huge month or so at the start of next year, gasping loudly as he remembered in that moment what was coming up across New Year. Realising he couldn't say anything he quickly composed himself, avoiding giving any details but promising some good scenes ahead. It was clear he really wanted to talk about the top secret information, clearly unable to believe how good the scenes were going to be.
He told us on what's ahead: "What’s exciting is I look forward to Christmas Day regardless of being on the show or not. We get two Christmas Days. Oh! And New Year.
.. New Year! I'm not saying anything.
.. I will not say.
