Initially, Reiss was using Debbie's money to fund his and partner Sonia's (Natalie Cassidy) IVF treatment. However, as Debbie's care home bills began to pile up, Reiss resorted to drastic measures and started defrauding Sharon (Letitia Dean). But on Wednesday's visit to the Square (July 24), events took a sinister turn when Reiss paid a visit to Debbie in the care home.

In tense scenes, Reiss stood up, moved a pillow from behind Debbie's head and kissed her forehead. He then wept and looked down at Debbie as he suffocated her. And in Thursday's episode (July 25), it was confirmed that Debbie had died, leaving Reiss overwhelmed with emotion - but able to hide his guilt.
