The soap opera, which first aired on the BBC all the way back in 1985, has been gearing up to celebrate its time on TV, leaving clues as to what will happen. Now, viewers have "worked out" what will happen next year with many being left convinced that Martin Fowler (James Bye) will die. Many believe that showrunners have left behind a huge hint about this death after he was forced to reveal his real age when he found himself at the centre of an unexpected birthday party.

The residents of Albert Square, led by Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) came together to mark his 40th birthday, despite his real age being 39. While being grateful for the celebration, he told them: "It’s not my 40th!” Many took to X to discuss the new theory with one fan saying: “Wondering if they’ve made such a thing of people thinking it’s Martin’s 40th so that they could put the banners and balloons up to tell us that the lead up to the show’s 40th starts now?” Another viewer of the show added: “Or are they celebrating Martin’s 40th early because he doesn’t make it to 40 years old cos he gets killed off on the anniversary?” One fan responded: “Oh god I hope not,” while a fourth added: “All I see lately is Martin dying in the 40th anniversary and I’m starting to believe in it."
