Eamonn Holmes' joke about "finding another wife" has resurfaced after his split from Ruth Langsford. In May, the pair announced their split after 23 years together and Eamonn has since moved on with girlfriend Katie Alexander, who is 22 years his junior. However, it looks like Eamonn was already considering a new relationship when he did a previous interview.

The 64-year-old explained that he would ultimately want to move to Ireland but Ruth wanted to live in London. However, he said that he "can't stand" London so the former couple had different views on where they wanted to live before their split. Speaking on NVTV's Conversations with Gerry Kelly last year, Eamonn said: "Ruth wouldn't come back to Northern Ireland.

Yes, because of her family and also because she's English and she sees life around London, whereas I can't stand London. "So, we have a different outlook on things like that." He then went on to joke about finding a "local girl" and also a potential new wife.

In the same interview, Eamonn then started to speak about the possibility of Ruth being involved in an accident. He added: "Maybe Ruth will be run over by a bus or something, who knows? If I get another wife, I might come back, get a local girl. That's awful talking about Ruth being run over by a bus, that's awful.

" Eamonn is now romancing relationship coach Katie and the pair are said to be talking about moving in together. Despite this, Ruth has been seen still wearing her wedding ring as she pointed out .
