Pune: The Durga Puja pandals across Pune turn into hubs of cultural rendezvous, hosting an array of events that showcase the rich tapestry of Bengali culture starting from Oct 8. Panchami, or the fifth day of Navaratra, is when the idol is brought to the pandals. Numerous pandals have emerged across the city, each offering a distinctive blend of cultural programs , mouthwatering cuisine, and activities that attract Bengalis away from their home state and welcome visitors from all communities.

A crucial aspect of these Durga Puja festivities is the Anandomela, where community members gather to savor homemade delicacies, participate in pushpanjali (the offering of flowers to the goddess) and share the bhog (the sacred food offered to the deity). Nandanik Sanstha, renowned for its Durgotsav at Rohi Villa Palace Grounds in Koregaon Park, exemplifies how these celebrations serve as a foundation for community building. Sandip Mukherjee, president of Nandanik Sanstha, shared, "Organnising the 21st Durga Puja, we expect a footfall of over 3,000 people in the mornings and more than 5,000 in the evenings.

Our aim is not just to celebrate but to foster a sense of belonging and cultural continuity." AamantraN's Shree Shree Durga Puja at BT Kawade Road commenced festivities with a noble cause by organizing a blood donation camp. Shubhadip Ghosh, secretary of AamantraN, emphasizes the blend of tradition and social responsibility in their celebrations.
