On Monday came a report that Denis Villeneuve’s film adaptation of “Dune: Messiah” had delayed filming and would now go into production in early 2026 rather than late next year. Part of the reason for that is due to reports that Zendaya will film “Euphoria” in the early part of 2025 and then be shooting “Spider-Man 4” in the back half of next year before then going on to ‘Messiah’. In addition, cinematographer Greig Fraser was occupied with Matt Reeves’ “The Batman: Part II” from April through to October next year making him unavailable for the third “Dune” shoot.
Now though, has sent out a story on Friday evening shooting down their own reporting from Monday. In the new one, they indicate that according to multiple sources – there is no delay. In fact, the film will shoot next Summer with the movie’s shoot to overlap with “Spider-Man 4”.
They add that the new Dune will be “an extensive, multi-location, multi-month shoot” of which Zendaya will be a key part, whereas with Spidey her role may be relatively small. “Dune: Messiah” should see the return of key talents from the prior two films including Timothee Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Zendaya as Chani, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia Atreides, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, Charlotte Rampling as Reverend Mother Mohiam and Jason Momoa as a new version of Duncan Idaho.
