Thursday, October 24, 2024 Dubai’s luxury scene evolves with the arrival of The Lana, a groundbreaking hotel by Dorchester Collection, redefining opulence and elegance in the city’s skyline. Dubai, known for its extravagant and groundbreaking developments, consistently makes global headlines for its awe-inspiring creations like the world’s tallest skyscraper, the first indoor ski slope in the Middle East, and the largest mall in the region. In this dynamic and fast-growing city, where 88% of the population is expatriate, the notion of luxury has often been defined by how lavish and opulent a project can be.

However, that narrative is about to shift with the opening of The Lana, a new hotel under the Dorchester Collection. In 2012, visionary developer Mahdi Amjad, who hails from Iraq, foresaw a transformation in Dubai’s hospitality scene. As the city evolved into a global hub for business and leisure, he believed that the preferences of its residents and visitors would also mature.

Following the global financial crisis, the Dubai government extended Dubai Creek by dredging a canal eastward to the downtown area, where a military base had once been planned but later abandoned. This extension paved the way for the creation of Marasi Bay Marina in Business Bay, a new neighborhood centered around a lagoon directly opposite the iconic Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall, which became the most visited place on Earth in 2023. Amidst this development boom, Amjad laid the foundation.
