Wednesday, October 2, 2024 Dubai’s tourism and business sectors are set for a significant boost as Egis, a global leader in architecture, consulting, and engineering, has taken on a crucial role in the AED 10 billion ($2.72 billion) expansion of the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) at Expo City Dubai. As the lead engineering and architectural consultant, Egis will utilize its world-class expertise to help create the largest purpose-built exhibition venue in the region.

The ambitious expansion will span 1.2 km and feature 180,000 square meters of exhibition space, positioning Dubai as a top destination for global events and business tourism. Egis will oversee comprehensive services including architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design, while ensuring sustainability and legal compliance.

The integration of Building Information Modelling (BIM) will also play a key role in the precision of the project’s execution. Amer Al Farsi, Assistant Vice President of Real Estate Development at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), said that the expansion aligns with Dubai’s 2040 Urban Master Plan, supporting the future growth of the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sector. The project will be executed in three phases, expanding the DEC to 180,000 square meters of indoor exhibition space, with 26 halls capable of hosting major events or multiple simultaneous gatherings.
