Celebrity chef Jason Atherton is back in Dubai for the second series of his popular show, 'Dubai Dishes' , and this time he's joined by Ranvir Singh . Jason, who started his career and met his wife in Dubai , has a deep affection for the city. He was thrilled when the first season of his show became a "smash hit".

"Everyone loved it! " Jason enthused. "It went down really well and I don't do a lot of television but everyone knows my love affair with Dubai is deep. I love that I can shout out the place and let the public get to know it through my eyes.

" "Dubai isn't just a five-star shining city full of Rolls Royces, as the cliché goes - it's a diverse culture with so many different types of cuisines." Alongside hunting for the city's finest food, Jason and Ranvir also explore less luxurious areas. One of Jason's favourite spots was what he describes as a "hole in the wall".

"It was two guys cooking over a deep fryer," he recalls. "They were serving these spicy courgette fritters - they were so good. My wife is from the Philippines, and there's a restaurant called Kookya serving the community.

It's authentic, and delicious." Jason first moved to Dubai in 2001 to set up Gordon Ramsay's restaurant and has been shuttling back and forth ever since - now he's got his own hotspot in the city. "The city has changed so much, it really is a food map," Jason remarked.
