Pune: Two delivery agents on a motorcycle suffered injuries after their vehicle was knocked down by an SUV driven allegedly by a drunk man at Pimple Gurav on Wednesday. The motorcycle got stuck between the front wheels of the SUV and was dragged along with the two men for quite a distance, since the SUV driver refused to stop. Senior inspector Mahesh Bansode of the Sangvi police said, “The SUV driver halted after a bit and was immediately taken into custody.

He was sent for medical examination and reports confirmed he was drunk.” Bansode said the suspect (39) lives in Pimple Gurav and is an autorickshaw driver. He said the injured duo work as delivery personnel.

“One of them was severely injured, while the other escaped with minor injuries.” He said the SUV driver has been booked under sections 125 (A) (B) (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 281 (rash driving) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and section 185 (drunk driving) of the Motor Vehicle Act. He said, “We have detained him and will serve him a notice.
